Try a sample

These last few weeks have been dedicated to dialing in the samples for the girls clothing, bags and accessories.  It is a tedious process that you feel like you take one step forward then one step back constantly... I'm finding out that what I draw out and envision in my head is only makes sense to me and that I wish I knew Indonesian. But once the design is nailed, I break it down to Kai (It helps to hear your ideas out loud, plus he translates it to the Tailors) then I have to factor in the what fabric to use and how that design will fit a complete stranger, then you can find me changing the design or being completely over it... I have already worked with 3 different Tailors, found a new one today and sent out some more samples, so hopefully by the end of this week we will have a set tailor and just keep making samples till we get it right! I had no idea it would be this difficult, but that feeling of when you receive a physical sample of something you have been staring at on paper or working up in your head is pretty awesome! Getting eager to have finished products especially since the clock is ticking, only one more month here...

Indosole's Kai Stober Paul was recently invited to sit down with the BREAKS Magazine crew and tell a bit about his special relationship with the country of Indonesia. Kai and his family have had a positive impact on the country and it's people through education and give-back programs. Kai's parents were teachers at the Jakarta International School for 20+ years. While educating Indonesia's local and ex-pat youth, they also provided a unique and shaping experience for Kai, with real-life education on the streets of Jakarta. Not many young red-head mulleted Americans can claim this kind of childhood experience. Kai's time in Indonesia has made him a very valuable asset to the Indosole team and we are thankful for his ability to shake and move with the locals in Bali and throughout Indonesia.

Pain McShlonkey

Pain McShlonkey at Squaw Valley USA, California
March 29-30th, 2013

We feel very fortunate to have been involved with the annual Shane McConkey Foundation's  annual "Pain McShlonkey" ski race and weekend of fund raising, networking, and mayhem. The competitors and crowd featured ski/snowboard industry professionals and local legends. 2 nights of costume themed parties to commemorate skier legend - Shane McConkey's love for 80's style neon leggings and one pieced jumpers, provided a blurry mish mash of awesome outfits and energy.
